BUILD THE FIELD SERVICE PLATFORM FOR A PE-BACKED NORDIC INDUSTRIAL GROUP
Most thesis projects end as a PDF. We want this one to become a product used in the field. Our company is a fast-growing, PE-backed Nordic services group. More than 150 technicians service +10,000 objects and assets across the Nordics. We are exploring the development of our own next-generation work-order platform. We are looking for an exceptional master’s student who wants to understand the users, challenge existing workflows and build a product from the ground up. THE PROJECT This is not a narrowly specified coding assignment. You will work directly with technicians, team leaders, administrators and Group management to understand how field service actually works. Your mission is to take the project from problem discovery to a working end-to-end MVP ready to be piloted – with the potential to ultimately support more than 150 technicians across the Group. You will have significant freedom to shape both the product and technical solution. Technology choices are open and will be based on the product’s needs. ACADEMIC FOCUS The exact research question will be developed with you and your academic supervisor. A possible direction is: “How can a user-centred digital field-service platform be designed, developed and evaluated to improve operational efficiency while supporting local autonomy in a decentralised service group?” The work may combine user research, literature review, iterative product design, software development and evaluation in a real operational environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO • Observe and interview technicians and operational teams • Map workflows and identify the highest-value problems • Define, design and test an MVP • Build a working end-to-end product • Pilot and evaluate the solution with real users • Recommend an architecture and roadmap • Deliver an academic thesis and practical product handover WHO YOU ARE You are completing a master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, industrial engineering with a strong software-development profile, or a related field. You: • Have strong software-development fundamentals • Have built something beyond mandatory coursework • Are comfortable working across product, UX and technology • Enjoy talking to users, not only receiving requirements • Can turn ambiguity into action and take ownership • Care about building software that works in practice We care more about your drive and ambition than your grades. WHAT WE OFFER • Unusually high ownership of a real greenfield product • Direct access to more than 150 potential users • Direct collaboration with Group management and operations • A fast-moving, commercially focused PE environment • Technical mentoring and regular code review • Compensation and equipment • The opportunity to continue after graduation as our company's first in-house Product Engineer For the right person, this can be more than a thesis. It can be the beginning of building a product that changes how an entire Group operates.
